THE ABOMINATION

FLORIDA KEYS FLATS FISHING FLY SELECTION

THE ABOMINATION

The Abomination was created while sitting at my vice with one of my clients Raymond Laurel. This pattern is Kwan style fly  and certainly one of my favorite patterns to throw. Although tied for Bonefish, this pattern has been eaten by redfish, baby tarpon, jacks, ladyfish and many more species. It's a simple fly but super effective.

KYRSTAL FLASH

Similar to Flashabou Accent but available in many more colors.  Krystal Flash is an brilliant Fly and Jig Tying Material. It is a unique, super brilliant material. Flashabou Accent comes in a bundle of long, spiraled fibers that give the appearance of tiny lights at each spiral. Krystal Flash was developed for flies, but also works great on Crappie and Bass Jigs and Spinners.

STEP 3

Start figure eigth-ing yarn towards the hook eye. Start with the tan and end with Tan. I usually do about 4 pieces before I tie in the eyes.

TYING TIPS

Make sure you start with tan and end with tan. It's not the end of the world if you don't but my OCD won't allow it :)

STEP 4

Fig. 1 - Now, Tie in your medium  bead chain eyes. Add your last piece of sparkle yarn, should be the darker tan color.  Once you do that, Trim the yarn like you see if figure 1. Sorry, I forgot to take a picture of this step on the new tutorial so I just used the older one. Little blurry but you get the point. See Fig, 2

TYING TIPS

Make sure you have extremely sharp scissors when cutting materials.

TYING TIPS

After making your wraps, add a pinch of super glue to lock in the eyes
